One of our supporters and spokespeople is Stela Solar. Stela is the Director of the National AI Centre and one of Australia’s leading voices on AI. Stela spoke to Sarah Macdonald on ABC Radio Sydney on International Women’s Day to discuss how education is critical to “crack the code”. She has fascinating insight into what is preventing girls from finding a career in tech. After studying Commerce and enjoying creative expressions such as music and arts, she was shocked that technology could actually be creative. Her advice is to “find the STEM in what you love.”
She is a passionate advocate for furthering girls in STEM and recognises that if we don’t have more girls studying technology we risk further widening the gender pay gap.
